(Reuters) – After ten years, seven movies and almost five-and-a-half billion U.S. dollars in film gross profits, the Harry Potter screen franchise is coming to an end.

The countdown and the anticipation surrounding the final chapter in the series picked up momentum on Thursday with studio release of the final trailer of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. " In the epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces escalates into an all-out war.

Meanwhile, Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling has launched a new website called "Pottermore," but fans of the boy wizard will have to wait to see what it entails as the entry page says simply "Coming Soon...." The site, www.pottermore.com, was launched a month ahead of the release of the final film.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. opens on July 15.
