(Reuters) - Citigroup is the latest U.S. corporation to have its computers hacked - presenting a security risk for about 200,000 bank card holders in North America.

The bank says customer names, account numbers, contact information and email addresses were viewed in the breach, but birth dates, social security numbers, card expiration dates and card security codes were not.

The bank discovered the breach in early May, according to a report by the Financial Times.
Citigroup says it is contacting customers who are impacted and is beefing up procedures to prevent another breach.

But consumer advocates say such a delay in telling customers is unacceptable.
Citigroup is not alone in being hacked. Sony, Google, and defense company Lockheed Martin are all recent victims.
